First Merchants Bank is seeking a Business Banking Underwriter I to join our team! This position will provide credit risk assessment support by evaluating complex commercial loan requests and analyzing financial information.

Financial Services

Responsibilities

Review credit data to evaluate the Business Banking Center’s most complex commercial loan requests in order to approve or deny applications within individual lending authority
Analyze sources of financial information, such as tax returns, financial statements, credit bureaus, and other sources
Order and review appraisals, evaluations and environmental assessments
Review and recommend proper structure for commercial loans based on financial strength and loan purpose
Complete trigger database business banking monitoring:
Spread and review financial data
Assist in management of database
Review triggers generated for validity
Request financial information where needed
Report concerns to management and Business Banking and/or Relationship Managers
Complete assigned reports
Assist Business Banking Credit Manager as needed
Complete compliance and assigned training and development
Attend and participate in department and policy meetings as requested
Establish and maintain good working relationship with Business Banking Officers
Attend sales calls with Business Banking Officers as requested

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field of study
Two (2) years of analytical or related experience

Preferred

Training in OMEGA, RMA or other commercial lending courses
