Maintenance Electrician MT9898
Stetson University is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to perform skilled tasks in the operation, diagnosis, mechanical repair, maintenance, renovation, and installation of electrical equipment and systems. The role involves responding to maintenance complaints, performing preventive maintenance, and supervising work performed by the Manager of Building Maintenance.

Responsibilities
Respond to building maintenance complaints and troubleshoot problems
Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as equipment checks, cleaning, lubrication, and repairs, consistent with equipment manuals and current standards
Respond to power outage complaints, diagnose problems, and keep associates informed
Inspect, repair, and replace various electrical devices and controls, including emergency power generators, lighting fixtures, wiring, switch gear, circuit breakers, panels, plugs, and sensors
Work with various electrical control devices, including electronic controls, air compressors, UPS, and fire stats
Lift or carry objects up to 100 pounds and work indoors or outdoors in extreme temperatures
Abide by and comply with university policies and procedures
Advise on upgrading or replacement needs and assist in the development of recommendations
Install new systems and components
Plan and perform effectively in a multi-task environment, meet objectives and deadlines, and exercise independent judgment
Maintain effective working relationships within and across departments
Prepare time and material estimates as required
Supervise work performed by the Manager of Building Maintenance
Perform periodic inspections of work areas, buildings, and related structures, and maintain them in accordance with current, recognized standards
Respond to student and group issues in a supportive, professional, timely, and problem-solving manner
Perform other duties or special assignments as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum high school diploma or GED
Electrical Journeyman License is mandatory
Five (5) years hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, repair, and renovation of electrical systems and devices, plus experience in emergency power generators and electric, DDC, and other related control devices
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University's auto insurance carrier
Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively in English (written and spoken)
Ability to apply recognized standards of good practice relevant to electrical construction and maintenance, including related mechanical equipment such as controls, pumps, motors, compressors, and emergency power generators
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and control wiring diagrams
Ability to read and understand complex wiring and control system diagrams
Ability to use diagnostic tools with differing degrees of complexity
Ability to be available at all hours for emergency service, as well as ability to work overtime, and participate in on-call rotation
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and the NEC (National Electric Code)
Ability to practically apply practical application of recognized standards of good practice relevant to matters of safety and security
Knowledgeable in basic practices employed in the building trades
Ability to frequently use hand and power tools, electrical testing devices, shop equipment, multiple controls, and fine adjustments as needed
Ability to walk and climb stairs and provide manual labor necessary to fulfill job functions; many buildings have multiple floors with stairs and no elevators
Ability to work in environments with extreme temperature and humidity common in Florida and may work in buildings without air conditioning, heating, or other comforts; may work in areas that are dusty, noisy, and areas that may have unpleasant odors
