Mechanical Engineer, Associate (Reactor Servicing)

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP) is committed to ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. Navy's naval nuclear reactors. They are seeking a highly motivated engineer to support reactor servicing for submarines and training platforms, focusing on design and systems engineering.

Responsibilities

Developing reactor servicing systems for naval nuclear reactors
Design and systems projects including new equipment designs, design modifications, equipment re-use evaluations, fabrication support, operational procedure development and safety evaluations
Collaborate with NNL technical support groups, Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc., shipyard and Naval Reactors personnel to complete deliverables
Travel to shipyards to observe operations for completed projects

Required

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field
All candidates must be U.S. citizens
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707

Preferred

Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Experience with equipment design, structural analysis, and fit-up studies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
Proficient with MS Office Suite, MathCad, PTC CREO (or other 3D modeling software), ABAQUS
