OB/GYN Coder
Convergenz is seeking an experienced Specialty Coder (OB/GYN) to support high-dollar and specialty coding accounts. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely coding for inpatient and outpatient encounters while maintaining a high standard of quality and productivity.
Responsibilities
Perform accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT coding for inpatient and outpatient encounters related to OB/GYN specialty services
Review clinical documentation, operative reports, and diagnostic results to assign appropriate codes in compliance with official coding guidelines
Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher
Abstract and validate patient and physician data within CHRISTUS Health electronic medical record systems
Collaborate with HIM, Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), and clinical teams to ensure complete and compliant documentation
Support departmental initiatives and assist with additional coding functions as directed by leadership
Report to the Regional Coding Manager with oversight from Coding Leadership
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
AAPC OB/GYN Specialty Certification (COBGC) – required
Minimum 2 years of professional coding experience in a specialty or acute care setting
Strong proficiency with EPIC EMR for coding and documentation review
Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and AMA CPT guidelines
Ability to work full-time with consistent productivity and quality standards
Candidates must reside in approved U.S. states (TX, LA, AR, GA, NM)
Availability to work full-time within U.S. time zones (MST, CST, or EST preferred)
Preferred
Experience coding high-dollar or specialty accounts
Strong attention to detail and compliance standards
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines
