Responsibilities
Daily monitoring of the health of equipment installed on locomotives for Remote Diagnostics; troubleshooting OBINC equipment and applications
Respond to client issues and provide resolutions or escalate when necessary
Analyze data sent from locomotive onboard systems to IT off-board systems to assess the operational health of applications
Perform daily data mining on IT databases to analyze and isolate failure modes in the field
Conduct root-cause analysis and collaborate with field service teams to capture debug information
Fix malfunctioning units remotely where appropriate
Work closely with Systems and Software Engineers to develop mitigation strategies and support root-cause analysis
Validate and confirm the resolution of defects in the field after fixes are implemented
Lead deployment of software upgrades to field units
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in meetings with field services, engineering, or the client when needed
Index and organize technical documents, logs, and reports to feed internal AI models for predictive analytics and troubleshooting
Collaborate with AI/ML teams to identify data gaps and assist in curating datasets for model training
Support research initiatives by providing structured feedback on AI-driven diagnostic tools and recommending improvements
Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and continuous learning programs focused on AI and locomotive systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science/MIS, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline
Minimum of 1-year hands-on experience in remote diagnostics involving daily monitoring of remotely deployed engineering systems
Experience with Ethernet, TCP/IP, wireless communication technologies (WiFi, CDMA/GSM, etc.)
Familiarity with IT data warehouses/databases (Clarify, Access, SQL, etc.) for issue monitoring and resolution
Background in systems with microprocessors & communication peripherals
Embedded programming and/or real-time OS experience (UNIX, LINUX command line)
Hands-on capability with test equipment & tools (DOORS, scripting languages like Perl, Visual Basic, DOS)
Extensive knowledge of Excel, VBScript, and Python scripting
Experience with DOORs Requirements Management Tools, ClearQuest Defect Tracking
Familiarity with System Testing Processes, Tools, & Automation
Ability to work with field service teams in a cross-functional, global environment
Strong oral and written communication skills
Self-starter with the ability to lead efforts with minimal supervision
Interest in continuous learning and applying emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency
Preferred
Locomotive experience is a bonus
Domain knowledge in Locomotive Systems and Railroad Operating Practices (bonus)
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and ability to work with data pipelines for document indexing
Experience with tools for text processing, NLP, or document classification
