Responsibilities

Lead Safety initiatives and drive safety improvement projects
Proactively drive continuous improvements to reduce injuries and hazards
Design and implement workplace safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements
Leverage Safety expertise to support manufacturing, office, local contacts and/or safety committees to achieve self-sustaining safety culture and high level of safety performance
Interpret and apply the Tower Safety Management manual policies and procedure
Participate in continuous improvements of policies and procedures based on technical expertise
Perform and document complex safety compliance activities including risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and process and equipment innovation
Give detailed presentations and reporting of safety activities and results including complex data analysis and trending
Develop personal technical expertise and professional skills
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken
Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; prepare detailed reports and recommend preventive measures
Maintain accurate safety records and documentation for compliance and reporting purposes

Required

BS in Health and Safety Science, Engineering, Applied Science to assure basic knowledge of chemistry and health sciences
Understanding of Health and Safety related regulatory and legal requirements and implications
Recommended professional certification such as Advanced Safety Certificate, Occupational Hygiene, Safety Technician, Certified Safety Professional, Safety Management Specialist, etc
Experience with federal, state, and local jurisdiction safety requirements, including Cal-OSHA
Interpersonal relationship skills
Understanding of major health and safety regulations and injury/illness prevention strategies
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
Strong knowledge of occupational safety standards (OSHA, ISO 45001, NFPA, etc.) and local safety regulations
Experience with safety audits, risk assessments, accident investigations, and risk assessment methodologies like HAZOP, FMEA, and JSA
Familiarity with industrial safety systems, fire protection systems, and hazardous material handling
Familiarity with safety management systems and data analysis tools
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to assess and mitigate risks
Strong communication skills to educate and collaborate with teams on safety best practices
Attention to detail and proactive approach to workplace safety improvements
Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, operations teams, and regulatory authorities
