They are seeking a Software Engineer to prototype new features, develop production-ready code, and support work that spans product development, system design, regulatory enablement, and operational testing.

Responsibilities
Rapidly prototype features and workflows in Python and/or Java to evaluate technical feasibility and inform product direction
Build proof-of-concept implementations to test assumptions, de-risk ideas, and support decision-making
Translate loosely defined problems into concrete technical approaches and working prototypes
Take ownership of more complex features across their lifecycle, from early concept through implementation and iteration
Apply systems engineering principles to ensure solutions align with broader system constraints and goals
Develop and maintain system models (including SysML where appropriate) to support design and communication
Contribute to technical proposal efforts by grounding concepts in practical implementation and system realities
Support regulatory approvals for drone programs: Develop materials for safety cases, waivers, and applications including technical justification and coordination through acceptance
Conduct limited drone flight operations to validate software behavior, system assumptions, and operational workflows
Design and develop internal tools to improve development velocity, testing, and analysis
Reduce friction in engineering workflows by building lightweight tools that connect systems, data, and operations
Qualification
Required
Proficient in Python and/or Java for rapid prototyping features and workflows
Ability to build proof-of-concept implementations to test assumptions and support decision-making
Experience translating loosely defined problems into concrete technical approaches and working prototypes
Ownership of complex features across their lifecycle, from early concept through implementation and iteration
Application of systems engineering principles to ensure solutions align with broader system constraints and goals
Development and maintenance of system models (including SysML where appropriate)
Contribution to technical proposal efforts by grounding concepts in practical implementation and system realities
Support for regulatory approvals for drone programs, including development of materials for safety cases, waivers, and applications
Conducting limited drone flight operations to validate software behavior, system assumptions, and operational workflows
Design and development of internal tools to improve development velocity, testing, and analysis
Ability to reduce friction in engineering workflows by building lightweight tools that connect systems, data, and operations
Comfort operating across software development, systems engineering, and operational contexts
Participation in design and development of large, multi-subsystem systems
Ability to turn ambiguous ideas into actionable prototypes, models, or technical arguments
Curiosity about how technical, operational, and regulatory constraints interact in complex systems
Effective communication with engineers, product stakeholders, and non-technical partners
Eligibility as a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62
Preferred
Background in aviation, aerospace, or other safety-critical industries
Experience with real-time or event-driven systems
Experience with Java Spring Boot development
Experience with cloud-native architecture
