Senior Level Controls Engineer
Medical Engineering Consultants (MEC) supports medical device and pharmaceutical companies to be more efficient and productive by providing resources, knowledge, and expertise. The Senior Level Controls Engineer will focus on increasing the capacity of a catheter production line, driving innovative technology solutions from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities
Create, develop, and implement control systems for automated manufacturing equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems
Identify and resolve issues, downtime, and quality problems in automated machinery, optimizing performance for safety and efficiency
Ensure all automation and control systems comply with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and GMP requirements specific to medical devices
Develop and maintain technical documentation for control systems, support equipment validation activities, and ensure change control processes are followed
Implement new technologies, conduct root cause analysis for failures, and lead initiatives to enhance the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing processes
Support the commissioning and upgrades of manufacturing equipment, providing technical support and training to maintenance teams
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Controls Engineer or in a similar automation-focused engineering role within a manufacturing environment
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens), HMI development, motion control, and robotics
Experience with industrial controls, sensors, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), safety hardware, and various automation technologies
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and document technical information
Understanding of the strict regulatory environment for medical device manufacturing, including FDA and GMP requirements
Preferred
Experience working with high-speed manufacturing or high-throughput production lines
