NYS Office of General Services is seeking a Professional Engineer 1 specializing in Civil/Geotechnical engineering. The role involves performing geotechnical engineering duties, analyzing subsurface conditions, preparing design documents, and managing project schedules.

Responsibilities
Perform geotechnical engineering duties including determining soil and field material, ground seepage, and detailed soil mechanics
Collect and analyze data on bedrock, foundations, and aquifer systems to inform subsurface construction plans
Investigate subsurface conditions, determine engineering properties of materials, and apply findings to design decisions and recommendations
Prepare geotechnical drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects
Coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other technical disciplines
Actively manage the schedule of assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules
Review reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants
Actively oversee consultant design work for assigned projects
Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress
Review shop drawings, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project’s construction
Provide geotechnical engineering recommendations and designs to support the response to client emergencies, as needed
Perform a full range of supervisory duties, including reviewing the work of subordinate staff
Qualification
Required
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below; OR a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below
Qualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Design Engineering, Environmental Resources Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, Forest Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees
Qualifying experience: One year of full-time experience related to geotechnical engineering practices
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job
