Accounts Payable Specialist

The Shelly Company, a CRH company, is a supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready mix concrete, and paving services in Ohio. They are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to handle a variety of clerical responsibilities, including addressing vendor inquiries and processing payments.

Responsibilities

Proactively work to address internal and external account inquiries via phone and/or email communication
Review monthly vendor statements and communicate payment detail and/or obtain outstanding invoice payments from Vendors
Identify vendor account maintenance needs and submit requests to Specialist team for actioning
Retrieve and process mail on a rotational schedule in partnership with workgroup members
Identify opportunities for training and process improvement initiatives
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

Less than high school education; or up to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Basic understanding of Accounts Payable functions is needed with extensive experience and proficiency in data entry
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Must have speed and accuracy using normal keyboard including the number pad
Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word experience
Operate a 10 key with speed and accuracy
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will continuously use fine motor skills, sit, use repetitive motion, left and right, and lift 0-10 lbs
The employee will frequently be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear, and lift 11-25 lbs
The employee will occasionally drive, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift 26-50 lbs., with assistance from others or machine
Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Preferred

Associate degree preferred but not required
Familiarity with a purchase order system is a plus
