Director of Sales and Estimating
Landscape Workshop is seeking a Director of Sales, Estimating & Preconstruction to lead and centralize all front-end commercial activities for their landscape construction division. This role will focus on revenue generation, estimating, and preconstruction strategy while building relationships with General Contractors and Developers to secure medium to large projects.

Responsibilities
Own and deliver division-level revenue and estimated gross margin targets, with accountability for backlog quality, hit rate, and margin discipline
Develop and execute a GC-centric sales strategy focused on regional and national General Contractors aligned with our footprint
Directly manage and coach a Business Development Manager (BDM) resource
Define target account lists, relationship plans, and pursuit strategies for key regional and national GC partners
Establish clear expectations around activity, pipeline development, and relationship depth—not just bid volume
Lead and manage a team of Estimators across multiple markets, ensuring consistent standards, accountability, and performance
Standardize estimating and preconstruction processes, including:
Build and maintain a best-in-class preconstruction handoff to operations, ensuring Project Managers and Superintendents receive complete, accurate, and execution-ready scopes
Ensure estimating is tightly integrated with field feedback, historical cost data, and post-job performance learnings
Create consistency across markets while allowing flexibility where local market knowledge is critical
Implement dashboards and KPIs to track pipeline, win rates, revenue vs plan, margin performance, team productivity, etc
Partner with finance and operations to improve forecasting accuracy, backlog visibility, and risk management
Continuously improve how the organization evaluates and prices risk on larger, more complex projects
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in commercial construction, landscape construction, or a related specialty trade
Proven success in personally building and owning relationships, driving sales processes, and delivering on sales targets
Proven experience in leading teams
Strong experience working with regional and national general contractors, developers, architects, etc
Deep understanding of estimating, preconstruction, and how front-end decisions impact field execution
Demonstrated ability to build structure, including process design, standardization, and accountability
Comfortable operating in a multi-market, growth-oriented environment, including travel-heavy work
Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence across operations, finance, and executive leadership
This role is expected to travel 50% or more
