The Laboratory Technician I will perform various chemical and metallurgical analytical tasks, maintain laboratory equipment, and assist with sample preparation and analysis.

Responsibilities
Perform routine and non-routine chemical and/or metallurgical analytical tasks at assigned site
May collect samples which could include collection from rail cars or trucks in some locations
Prepare samples for analysis using established tests and techniques
Assists with/performs routine chemical and/or metallurgical analysis and reporting
Maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment
Perform other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated knowledge of math, chemistry and/or computer skills appropriate to the assignment
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam
Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing
Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation

Preferred
High School diploma or GED
Experience with mathematic and/or numbers based tasks
Experience with chemical sample preparation and/or analysis
Ability to follow detailed, technical instructions
Experience with tedious or repetitive motions or tasks
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Strong proficiency using MS Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets reports, and other documentation
