Homeless Assistance Program Coordinator-13-090- SC/ Riverside Corps.

The Salvation Army Southern California is an international movement focused on meeting human needs. They are seeking a Homeless Assistance Program Coordinator to track homeless individuals and assist them in connecting to various services to aid their path out of homelessness.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Make relational connections with the homeless community on a daily basis
Track needs of homeless individuals
Conduct a monthly homeless point in time count
Make connections for homeless individuals for needed services and programs
Use City designed database to track homelessness throughout Moreno Valley
Transport individuals to services when needed
Providing transportation to our shower program as needed
Meet regularly with Corps Officer for program evaluation and support
Meet certification by and participation in The Salvation Army’s fleet safety program
Perform all other duties as assigned
Collaborate with Homeless to Work Program and ARC for client referral
Collaborate with Moreno Valley Police Department and Code Enforcement to report on current homeless situations throughout the city and do homeless counts
Develop and foster linkages with other social service agencies and work in collaboration to provide clients with access to a broad range of supportive services, including health/mental health services, employment preparation/placement services, substance abuse services, vocational services, access to mainstream benefits, and identification of and access to permanent housing
Maintain regular contact with each homeless individual throughout the city
Work our food pantry as needed
Do food pick ups for our pantry as needed
Input data into tracking system daily IE: Wellsky, HMIS, Spreadsheet

Required

At least 18 years old
Maintain a Class C California Driver's License
Current knowledge of and interest in homeless populations and available supportive resources
Understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army
Basic understanding of computer skills
Experience working with the homeless population
Ability to work with basic functions of a tablet and laptop
Ability to actively listen and take genuine interest in helping homeless individuals to address and reduce barriers to independence
Good time management and communication skills, both verbal and written. Professional telephone etiquette
Strong interpersonal skills with both clients and staff in a professional, respectful manner

Preferred

High School diploma preferred
Knowledge of HMIS preferred
