Data Scientist - Tiwari Research Lab
The University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a Radiology Informatics Data Scientist to work in the Tiwari Research Lab. This role involves data management, development of clinical research databases, and the creation of AI and machine learning models for medical imaging and clinical data analysis.

Responsibilities
Identifies, writes, or assists in developing grant opportunities, grant applications, and proposals to secure research funding
Organizes and automates project steps for data preparation and analysis
Composes and assembles reproducible workflows and reports to clearly articulate patterns to researchers and/or administrators
Prepares data sets for analysis including cleaning/quality assurance, transformations, restructuring, and integration of multiple data sources
Documents approaches to address research questions
Implements appropriate data science techniques under the guidance of other data scientists, statisticians, and/or other researchers to find data patterns and answer research questions chosen by the lead researcher including data visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining
Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials and, disseminates information to appropriate entities
Qualification
Required
Experience working with medical imaging and/or electronic health record data, as well as understanding compliance requirements
Experience in developing machine learning and/or deep learning models for medical imaging, genetic, and/or biological data
At least 3 years of experience with programming languages (C++, Python, Matlab), including libraries like NumPy, SciPy, and scikit-learn
Proficiency in Linux environment, including common commands and shell scripting
Familiarity with medical imaging data and standards such as DICOM and HL7, as well as ensuring compliance
Bachelor's Degree Required; focus in Physics, Biomedical Statistics, Computer Science or related field by application date
Preferred
Proficiency in database languages (SQL, NoSQL databases like MongoDB, graph databases)
Familiarity with data management and lifecycle platforms such as Flywheel, XNAT, or data versioning tools like DVC
Previous grant writing experience; manuscript writing; program management and/or development experience
Experience contributing to clinical research projects, including IRB protocols and clinical trials
Knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization tools (R, SAS, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly)
Terminal Degree Preferred; PhD in Medical Imaging, Physics, Biomedical Statistics, Computer Science, or related field by application date
