Systems Administrator- Linux & Security Compliance

They are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator with deep Linux expertise and strong security and compliance experience to support system administration and infrastructure stability.

Responsibilities
Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes
Perform system performance tuning and automate routine tasks
Analyze system logs and proactively identify issues
Conduct routine system and software audits
Troubleshoot and resolve system and network issues
Perform data backups and verify backup integrity
Support end users and respond to technical inquiries
Ensure security, availability, and stability of systems
Document system configurations and maintain technical documentation
Maintain and monitor network infrastructure to ensure uptime
Configure, add, and delete file systems
Design, install, maintain, and upgrade operating systems and applications
Direct help-desk functions and oversee problem resolution
Coordinate system activities with engineering, operations, and other teams
Plan and manage network and systems growth
Evaluate hardware/software solutions and purchasing needs
Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements
Oversee vendor and contractor performance
Represent Systems Administration in meetings and initiatives
Review IT infrastructure and application architecture for security and compliance alignment
Evaluate vendor cybersecurity policies, BCP/DR plans, and SOC reports
Support client and prospect security questionnaires
Assist with vendor due diligence and annual reviews
Support compliance with SOC-2 Type II, HIPAA, and related frameworks
Assist with company-wide security training setup and monitoring
Support internal audits and recommend process improvements
Contribute to SOC-2, PCI, and HIPAA audit activities
Help develop IT security policies and training materials
Support vulnerability assessments and remediation tracking
Coordinate remediation efforts and vulnerability scan responses
Lead short-term technical and compliance projects
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
Experience as a Systems Administrator or Compliance Analyst
Hands-on experience with SOC 2 Type II audits
Advanced Linux expertise (CentOS required)
Experience with Apache web/application servers
Advanced scripting skills (Bash required)
Strong security background (system hardening, IDS, penetration testing)
Solid networking knowledge (firewalls, switches, routers)
Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS DHCP, SNMP, NTP, etc
VPN, static routing, and multi-site networking experience
Virtualization experience (VMware vSphere required)
Advanced Windows Server, Active Directory, and Exchange experience
Strong DR and Business Continuity knowledge
Ability to write clear, detailed technical documentation
Linux: 3 years
Preferred
accredited compliance management certification
PHP, Python, or Ruby scripting skills
XenServer virtualization experience
Basic database administration (MYSQL, SyBase, or PostgreSQL)
