Responsibilities

Abstract moderate to highly complex clinical data using established definitions and guidelines and maintain an abstracting volume to meet internal and external reporting deadlines
Perform clinical review of a medical record and summarize the findings to facilitate additional review
Reviews patient non-compliance lists and conducts outreach to ensure timely disease specific and wellness visits
Collects and tracks monthly, quarterly and annual process improvement measures
Conducts analysis of data in cooperation with the medical staff to assist in identification of improvement activities
Understands current issues, practices and trends in healthcare and communicates to employees as appropriate
Presents data collected in an organized format to facilitate analysis and identification of improvement opportunities
Provides documented reports of findings from data collection as requested
Provides education to medical staff members and hospital staff as appropriate to enhance performance and documentation

Required

High school diploma/GED required with completion of Medical Assistant Program strongly preferred
Two (2) years of clerical and customer service
Experience in health-related field
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Working knowledge of clinical workflows
Knowledge of Electronic Health Systems
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes
Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, calculators, etc
