Litigation Paralegal/ Legal Assistant

They are seeking a detail-oriented Estate Paralegal to assist attorneys in estate planning and trust/probate administration, requiring strong organizational skills and professionalism during sensitive family transitions.

Responsibilities

Draft estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives
Assist with probate and trust administrations, including preparation of court filings and notices
Coordinate asset inventories and valuations and assist with accountings and estate distributions
Assist with formation of business entities (LLCs, corporations, partnerships, non-profits, etc.) including filing necessary documents with state agencies
Prepare and maintain corporate governance documents (bylaws, operating agreements, shareholder agreements)
Conduct due diligence, assist with transaction closings, and organize transaction documents for mergers and acquisitions
Support attorneys in zoning applications, permitting, and land use matters
Draft and review real estate documents including purchase agreements, leases, deeds, and title documents
Renew title searches, lien searches, and draft documents on behalf of title companies for closings
Prepare employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, and other employment-related documentation
Assist with compliance audits and gather documentation for employment litigation matters
Organize and maintain case files and client records in accordance with firm procedures
Coordinate meetings and maintain communication with clients, courts, and governmental agencies

Required

2-5 years of experience in trust and estate administration or probate law is typically required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized legal software such as Clio, Time Matters, or estate planning specific tools like Lackner
High level of discretion, strong mathematical aptitude for accountings, and excellent written communication

Preferred

Bachelor's degree or an associate degree in paralegal studies from an ABA-approved program is strongly preferred
Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA Certified Paralegal or Indiana Registered Paralegal) is a plus
