HR Generalist, Safety & Wellness

Kentucky Blood Center is seeking candidates for the position of HR Generalist, Safety & Wellness. This role will administer related programs across the organization, providing guidance, communication, and support for workplace safety and wellness initiatives.

Responsibilities

Promotes a workplace safety culture by providing internal education and guidance, effectively responding to employee feedback, and collaborating with managers and stakeholders to identify and resolve potential risks
Responsible for the development and revision of procedures and training content; reviews and approves Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Oversees accident reporting and Workers’ Compensation claims; tracks events in incident portal to generate, submit, and/or post OSHA logs information
Maintains Exposure Control Plans and Hepatitis B vaccination program
Assists with crisis response plan projects
Performs internal evaluation of safety functions, consistently analyzes incident data, and suggests continuous improvement measures; administers quarterly accident-free incentive program
Partners with HR team and managers in reviewing and finding solutions to requests for ergonomic support and/or reasonable accommodation
Monitors information from government agencies and other resources to remain apprised of legislative updates and best practices; pursues continuing education to maintain and utilize a strong knowledge of OSHA and employment regulations
Conducts routine safety audits at all locations and responds to action plans
Oversees wellness program; monitors steps related to requirements for insurance premium discounts, organizes flu vaccine clinics, administers activity challenge system, and develops and executes related initiatives and incentives
Maintains a general knowledge of HR department functions and compliance requirements, serving as back-up and participating in special projects as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, preferred; Business Administration, Human Resources, or other relevant major may be considered with the appropriate combination of experience, education, and certifications with high school diploma/equivalent and applicable knowledge, required
Minimum of 1 to 2 years of related workplace safety and OSHA compliance experience
Completion of OSHA 30-Hour course required within 6 months of employment (KBC to provide)
Excellent written skills, with attention to detail, the ability to effectively develop content, and to execute and administer business processes, are essential
Must have strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact well at all levels of the organization
Must be tech-savvy with high MS Office proficiency, and have the ability to easily learn and navigate web applications
Must reside in the greater Lexington, KY area, and have a valid driver's license; periodic travel to all KBC locations is required

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, preferred
