Responsibilities
Validate & Challenge Engineering Deliverables: Act as the final checkpoint, auditing engineering sign-offs to ensure all requirements are met with sufficient data and evidence.Support suppliers/Ford Design and Release engineers in the development of products
Lead Proactive Risk Analysis: Drive Change Point Analysis (CPA) with functional teams to guarantee that any change—to usage, noise factors, or system boundaries—is rigorously accounted for in the test plan
Oversee Key System Integration: Review and approve CPAs with technical leads across all core engine systems, including: FEAD, Lubrication, Cylinder Heads, Blocks, Pistons, Valvetrain, Timing, Engine Cooling, Crankshaft & VT-VCT-CD
Champion Failure Prevention: Partner with functional teams to conduct deep-dive analysis of failure modes and implement robust, data-driven preventative actions that prevent recurrence
Drive Continuous Improvement of Engineering Standards: Audit designs, requirements, and test plans to identify gaps; collaborate with technical specialists to continuously update DFMEAs, test methods, and design rules using Robustness Checklists (RCLs)
Ensure Manufacturing Adherence: Conduct plant audits to verify that on-the-floor control plans directly adhere to the final, approved engineering drawings and specifications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in powertrain/engine design, development, or testing
Experience working with cross-functional teams
Comprehensive understanding of engine architecture and a passion for ensuring all internal and external system interfaces are flawlessly executed
Demonstrated mastery of Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) methodologies (DFMEA, P-Diagram, Boundary Diagrams, Interface Analysis)
Validated leadership skills and the ability to take charge when necessary
Proven analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills
Proven interpersonal and communication skills
Strong knowledge of the MS Office suite
Preferred
Master's Degree in Engineering
Six Sigma Black Belt certification
Experience with advanced engine technologies (e.g., turbocharging, direct injection, hybrid systems)
Hands-on experience with automotive quality systems (e.g., APQP, PPAP)
