NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Management Accountants to join their Financial Management team. The role involves providing proactive financial management support, preparing budget statements, and ensuring robust financial control across NHS services.

Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for budget managers
Analyse variances and investigate financial queries
Process journals, accruals, and budget adjustments
Support annual budget setting and expenditure planning
Assist with statutory returns and cost book analysis
Provide costing information for business cases and service developments
Maintain financial coding structures and reporting hierarchies
Attend budget meetings and provide financial advice to managers
Support senior finance staff with project work and service redesign
Ensure compliance with Standing Financial Instructions and internal controls
Qualification
Required
HND, AAT Technician level, or equivalent experience
Previous relevant accounting experience
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
Experience using financial systems (e.g., CEDAR e Financials, Business Objects)
Understanding of NHS finance structures and reporting hierarchies
