Responsibilities
Member of a cross-functional team comprised of design engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing to support existing product improvement, customer quality issues and sales and marketing strategies
Understand every aspect of a full SMT line in order to help customers troubleshoot processing issues they encounter with Samtec interconnects. This would occasionally include travel to the customer’s location to provide hands-on guidance but most of this work is done remotely
Assist new product design and develop processing recommendations including:
Printed wiring board footprint layout
Solder stencil layout
Solder joint classification
Pick and place requirements
Shipping packaging requirements
Rework procedure
Review and approve engineering drawings (printed wiring boards, solder stencils, connectors, etc.)
Assist in internal equipment maintenance and procurement
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years of manufacturing with a focus in SMT process engineering formal training and/or work experience
Must be a self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated problem solving ability and attention to detail
Strong technical writing ability
Candidates must have a solid understanding of statistics, process control and reliability standards (IPC, JEDEC, MIL)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent follow-up skills
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Preferred
Experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Gerber or other engineering design, modeling or simulation software is desirable
