Responsibilities
Plan and conduct generative and evaluative research (interviews, diary studies, surveys, usability tests) with DIYers (novice to advanced), and car enthusiasts
Translate findings into actionable insights that shape design decisions and product roadmaps
Develop and maintain user personas, journey maps, and behavioral models relevant to the diagnostics and repair workflow
Design experiments and POC validation frameworks to test hypotheses on user behavior, engagement, and feature adoption
Collaborate with the product team to define success metrics, run A/B tests, and analyze experimental outcomes
Use both qualitative and quantitative methods to validate UX hypotheses and improve overall app usability
Partner closely with UX Designers to ensure research findings translate into intuitive, high-performing design solutions
Communicate insights and recommendations effectively across technical and business teams
Advocate for user-centered design practices throughout the product development lifecycle
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Science, Psychology, Design Research, or related field
3+ years of UX research experience — ideally in mobile applications or connected device ecosystems
Experience designing and analyzing experiments or POCs to validate product hypotheses
Proficiency with research tools (UserTesting, Maze, Dovetail, Hotjar, etc.) and analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Amplitude, GA)
Strong storytelling and communication skills — able to make complex findings clear and compelling
Curiosity about how people interact with complex systems and data-rich environments
A methodical yet creative approach to problem-solving
Comfort in ambiguity — you design clarity where none exists
A bias for action: you test, learn, and iterate quickly
Ability to relocate to Irvine, CA 92614 before starting work (Required)
Preferred
Experience in the automotive or diagnostic technology sector
