Responsibilities
Perform, /coordinate, and direct field investigation of liability, personal injury, fatality, auto accidents, property damage, fire, gas, environmental claims, and other claims; timely respond to incident scenes and coordinate investigations of incidents on a 24-hour basis. Provide 24/7 on-call emergency response
Conduct thorough internal and external investigation, collecting, preserving and evaluating documents and relevant evidence related to claims and /or associated incidents. Interview customers/claimants, witnesses, employees, contractors, etc. to obtain facts of case. Coordinate and support site inspections with appropriate expert support, as needed. Coordinate with internal partners to investigate potential liability and assess risk
Thoroughly, timely, and accurately document and actively manage assigned claims to bring them to efficient and appropriate resolution. Prepare thorough and clear written investigation reports, letters, and other documents
Efficiently and effectively adjust claims, evaluate damages, determine liability, analyze losses and where warranted, develop a settlement strategy and negotiate a cost-effective and appropriate settlement, and/or efficiently and respectfully communicate claims decisions and/or denials when appropriate
Cooperate with the legal department in support of litigation of cases brought against the company
Perform assigned storm and incident response duties on an on-call basis. Participate in other department business and accomplishment of work and goals as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a Business or related field and 2-4 years relevant claims, insurance, investigation, or related utility experience, OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree, a minimum of 3-6 years of relevant experience
Preferred
Active Claims Adjuster license (If applicable to position location)
5-7 years relevant claims, insurance and/or utility experience
