Responsibilities
Assist with mechanical engineering design and review for heating, ventilating, refrigeration and air conditioning projects for new construction and rehabilitation of existing State facilities. These projects may involve needed design changes for heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems of existing facilities that can present complex problems in order to be compatible with the plans for existing building structures
Prepare mechanical drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects under the direction of licensed staff
Coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other disciplines
Assist in scheduling assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules
Assist in the review of reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants
Assist with the supervision of consultant design work
Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progress
Collaborate with senior designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met
Review shop drawings, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the project’s construction
Assist with supervision of junior staff

Qualification
Required
A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below; OR a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below
Qualifying Degrees: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees
Qualifying Experience: New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration and one year of full-time engineering experience in Mechanical/HVAC
Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 22 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job
