Clinical Laboratory Scientist- Gulf Breeze/PRN

This role involves performing clinical procedures, quality control maintenance, and assisting in various laboratory functions as needed.

Responsibilities

Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures
Reports test results in a timely manner and according to established laboratory protocol and procedures
Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control and reports discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor
Maintains work area—cleans bench, restocks supplies, notifies supervisor of low stock
Performs daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed, maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate
Performs calibration of equipment as required
Troubleshoots instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimens when problems occur
Notifies the supervisor or senior tech if unable to solve the problem
Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety procedures
When handling blood and/or body fluids, universal precaution procedures will be followed in order to minimize exposure to infectious diseases
Safety policies and procedures will be followed when using chemicals
Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure
Responsible for working in all departments of the laboratory when working the night shift
Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization
May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters
