Responsibilities

Processes various financial documents and data
Analyzes data and prepares internal financial reports consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role and goals of the Business Unit and the tasks and responsibilities of the Accounting Assistant I with respect to achieving business unit goals
Works under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine or semi-routine work and established work parameters for the unit
Work is usually reviewed upon completion
Performs professional work requiring knowledge of general accounting principles and practices and the basic application and use of concepts, theories and terminology of accounting

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
This position requires HIPAA certification, may be obtained after date of hire
Ability to work with a diverse group of people, strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work with on a team, strong attention to detail, and a sense of urgency
Good communication skills, computer literacy, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a professional manner
Strong ability and desire to learn new information systems and help operations utilize them to improve efficiency
Knowledge of University Accounting software; trainable
Knowledge of University Purchasing software; trainable
Expert knowledge of MS Outlook Contact Management systems
Expert knowledge of Internet Explorer Internet software
Knowledge of Kronos time/attendance software; trainable
Knowledge of MS Visio software; trainable
Expert knowledge of MS Excel Spreadsheet software
Expert knowledge of MS Word Word Processing software
