Responsibilities
Must be able to develop calibration testing procedures for each piece of equipment based on detailed drawings, blueprints and other technical specifications provided by your employer or the instrument manufacturer
Must compile, measure and record data from each instrument for other technicians and managers to review. Reports should include practical recommendations and an assessment of any potential cost overruns
Additional tasks may include training subordinates, ordering replacement parts for faulty equipment, and researching advances in calibration techniques
Test, calibrate, and schedule repairs for electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards
Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment
Disassemble instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects components for defects
Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment
Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
Able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
Basic computer skills are required
Preferred
2 years' experience in a job shop environment preferred
