Data Services Manager

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop the Data Conversion and Payroll teams responsible for DC plan data intake
Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct performance reviews
Manage team capacity, workload prioritization, and resource allocation to meet service level commitments
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Oversee end-to-end data conversion activities for new and transitioning Defined Contribution plans
Ensure accurate intake, validation, and processing of payroll files from plan sponsors and vendors
Maintain strong controls to ensure data integrity, completeness, and timeliness
Resolve complex data issues, discrepancies, and exceptions escalated by the team
Ensure adherence to plan provisions, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize data intake, conversion, and payroll processes
Partner with technology, transformation, and project teams to support automation and system enhancements
Document and maintain procedures, controls, and best practices
Monitor key metrics, trends, and root causes to proactively address risks and inefficiencies
Serve as a key point of contact for internal partners including Implementation, Relationship Management, Compliance, and Technology
Support client onboarding and ongoing service by ensuring accurate and timely data readiness
Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding risks, timelines, and issue resolution
Contribute subject matter expertise to enterprise initiatives and cross-functional project
Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor requirements related to DC plan administration
Maintain strong quality assurance practices and internal controls
Support audits, testing, and remediation activities as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in related field; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
Minimum 5+ years of related experience is required
Extensive project management experience with solid knowledge of the various retirement plans and subsequent provisions
Strong knowledge of Defined Contribution plans (401(k), 403(b), etc.) and associated data elements
Proven experience managing data conversions and payroll data intake
Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation
Proficient with computer software
Ability to analyze data, identify root cause, and provide and/or develop an appropriate solution for resolution
Proven experience handling multiple priorities
Proactive problem-solving ability with solutions-oriented demeanor
Ability to work independently within a team and make decisions while considering client requirements
Ability to travel on occasion as needed

Preferred

Experience with large-scale data transformations or automation initiatives
Knowledge of recordkeeping systems and payroll file specifications
Project management or Lean/Six Sigma experience
