STATIONARY ENGINEER
The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation is seeking a Stationary Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems within a correctional facility. This role involves supervising incarcerated individuals in maintenance tasks, planning and scheduling maintenance work, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler, heating, air condition, ventilating, and other mechanical systems
Instruct, lead, or supervise incarcerated people
Plan, monitor, schedule, and perform maintenance on institutional heating and utility systems
Supervise the maintenance performed by incarcerated people on these systems and equipment
Weld, fabricate, fit, install, and repair mechanical devices
Lead and work with Stationary Engineer Apprentice and Maintenance Mechanics in the repair, replacement and/or modifications of mechanical/electrical/heating, venting, and related systems
Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, pumps, valves, and lines used in the distribution of steam and recovery of condensate water
Operate, repair, and maintain refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, and float valves
Assist in the planning and work of abatement and repairs to asbestos containing materials as required after training and certification
Plan and lay out schedules; requisition materials and equipment necessary to complete work orders in assigned areas; read schematics, plans, and blueprints
Provide guidance to incarcerated work crews in the completion of maintenance work orders; ensure that materials and equipment are prepared and ready for schedule
Contact outside vendors for price quotes; prepare Form CDC 954 (Intraoffice Requisition); keep simple work records
Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to: adhere to Department policies, rules and procedures; submit administrative requests including leave, travel, and training in a timely and appropriate manner; accurately report time and submit timesheets by the due date
Attend all meetings, training, and seminars as needed or required

Plan and lay out schedules; requisition materials and equipment necessary to complete work orders in assigned areas

Provide guidance to incarcerated work crews in the completion of maintenance work orders
Ensure that materials and equipment are prepared and ready for schedule
