Responsibilities

Design, architect, and maintain comprehensive test automation frameworks using Selenium and Playwright to support efficient testing of ScholarOne Manuscripts and Conferences platforms
Lead the selection, implementation, and evolution of automation tools and technologies that maximize team productivity and test coverage
Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and design patterns for test automation
Create reusable test components, libraries, and utilities that accelerate test development across teams
Integrate automation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback
Lead the design and execution of comprehensive load testing strategies for ScholarOne platforms to ensure system reliability under high-volume conditions
Develop and maintain performance testing frameworks and scripts using industry-standard tools
Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with development teams to implement optimizations
Establish performance baselines and monitoring strategies to detect regressions early in the development cycle
Champion the adoption of AI-powered testing tools and technologies to accelerate test creation, execution, and analysis
Leverage generative AI tools to enhance test script development, defect analysis, and documentation
Evaluate and implement AI-based test maintenance solutions to reduce framework upkeep overhead
Identify opportunities to apply machine learning for test prioritization, risk assessment, and predictive quality metrics
Establish quality metrics and validation processes for AI-generated test artifacts to ensure accuracy and reliability
Train and mentor team members on effective AI tool utilization while maintaining appropriate human oversight
Serve as technical lead for QA automation initiatives, providing guidance and direction to QA engineers across teams
Mentor and develop QA team members in automation best practices, framework usage, and modern testing approaches
Collaborate with Product Owners, developers, and Business Analysts to understand requirements and inform test strategy
Participate in architectural discussions and design reviews to advocate for testability and quality considerations
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for QA processes, tools, and methodologies
Estimate QA effort for epics and releases, contributing to project planning and resource allocation

Required

10+ years of experience in software quality assurance with significant focus on test automation
Expert-level proficiency in Java-based test automation development
Demonstrated expertise with both Selenium WebDriver and Playwright frameworks
Experience designing and implementing load testing solutions using tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or similar
Proven track record of architecting and maintaining enterprise-scale test automation frameworks
Advanced knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing integration
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and release management practices
Excellent communication skills with ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Leadership and mentoring capabilities with focus on team development and knowledge sharing
Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance testing workflows and productivity

Preferred

Experience in scholarly publishing, academic technology, or related knowledge management industries
Background with workflow management systems, editorial platforms, or manuscript management solutions
Understanding of academic publishing processes, peer review workflows, and scholarly communication
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies
Advanced experience with API testing and integration testing methodologies
Knowledge of security testing and accessibility compliance requirements
Experience with test management tools and defect tracking systems
Background in organizations serving the academic publishing or scholarly communications industry
Professional certifications in software testing, quality assurance, or test automation (ISTQB, etc.)
Experience with AI/ML testing tools, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted development workflows
