HR Generalist
The UW-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences is seeking an HR Generalist to support their human resources, payroll, and benefit needs. This role primarily focuses on faculty-related HR administrative functions, including recruitment activities and processing HR transactions.

Responsibilities
Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Human Resources policies and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations
Executes and audits work transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipated deadlines
Receives, responds to, and resolves employee questions and problems
Represents unit/program at institutional workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions
Provides consultation, performs analytics, and/or maintains personnel files, communications, and materials for work unit through various mediums
Processes employees’ medically related leave or job modification requests, or a portion thereof
Performs faculty-related payroll functions
Qualification
Required
Professional experience, training, or education in at least two of the following functional HR areas: Recruitment (posting positions, advertising, responding to applicant inquiries, managing applicant materials, coordinating the interview process), Hiring/Onboarding activities (initiating background checks, I-9 processing, processing new hire paperwork, assigning mandatory training, assist with/coordination of orientation), Employment Relations (performance management, leave management), Compensation & Benefits (payroll processing, monitoring employee paid time off, coordinating employee benefits, processing salary adjustments), Compliance (I-9, FLMA/ADA, worker's compensation, records retention)
Managing a high volume of varied tasks in a fast-paced environment (e.g., organizing, prioritizing, consistently meeting deadlines, managing multiple tasks)
Providing customer service to a range of customers (e.g., responding to inquiries, providing technical support, transparency, guiding customers through a transaction, follow-up / follow-through, etc.)
Utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database applications
Preferred
Working with human resources information system (HRIS) and/or applicant tracking system (ATS) (e.g., Workday)
Performing payroll and benefits activities
Interpreting, applying, and communicating complex policies and/or procedures
Working in an environment directly or indirectly supporting medical leave or accommodation requests
Associate's Degree or other training in the field of human resources or business administration
