Student Trainee (Clerk)

Responsibilities
Picks up, receives, opens, sorts, and distributes mail to appropriate individuals following specific instructions
Answers the telephone and refers callers/visitors to appropriate personnel based on specific name or functional area request
Sorts, codes, and files documents in an established alphabetical or simple subject-matter filing system
Reproduces and assembles copies of a variety of correspondence as instructed
Provides services in association with the installation, movement, maintenance, and accountability of hardware item (if selected for Student Trainee (Computer Assistant)
Qualification
Required
You MUST provide transcripts or Official Letter of Enrollment to support your educational claims
An accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education must accredit education
You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program
Incumbent may be required to type 45 words per minute for Office Automation positions
Must be at least 16 years of age
Males 18 years or older must be registered for Selective Service
Must meet suitability requirements for Federal employment
U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island)
Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
You must be a student, currently enrolled, at least half-time at a qualifying, accredited education institution or accepted for enrollment/enrolled in an approved program
Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
Must sign a Participant Agreement
Meet the qualification standards of the position
You must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution for all grades, at the time of application submission (proof of enrollment and a copy of transcripts are required)
GS-01: You must be enrolled in an educational institution. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts
GS-02: Experience: Three months of general experience for GS-0399-02 level positions
GS-02: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts
GS-03: Experience: Six months of general experience for GS-0399-03 level positions
GS-03: Education: Completion of 1 academic year of post-high school study. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts
GS-04: One year of general experience for GS-0399-03 level positions
GS-04: Education: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. (You must submit a copy of transcripts)
GS-05: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-04) or equivalent
GS-05: Education: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or completion of 4 academic years of pre-professional study
