Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a Civil Designer to support a highly regulated government project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The role involves planning, design, and documentation of infrastructure and facility-related systems in compliance with federal and quality assurance requirements.

Responsibilities

Develop multidiscipline design deliverables including plans, sections, details, and layouts
Produce 2D and 3D design drawings using industry-standard CAD tools
Support site development, foundations, concrete/steel structures, and facility modifications
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other discipline designers to ensure integrated solutions
Assist in preparing design documentation for government review and regulatory compliance
Ensure work products meet quality standards under strict QA/QC procedures
Participate in design reviews, field verification, and project coordination meetings
Maintain accurate drawing records and adhere to configuration management requirements

Required

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
10+ years of design experience, preferably supporting civil/structural projects
Experience working in a highly regulated environment (DOE, DOD, nuclear, industrial, or government facilities preferred)
Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools
Working knowledge of civil/structural design standards, codes, and drafting practices
Ability to obtain and maintain access to a government-controlled work site
United States Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain required DOE and/or NRC security access authorization
Ability to work on-site; this position is not eligible for remote work

Preferred

Experience supporting government projects
Familiarity with structural detailing, site grading, drainage, and utility layouts
Understanding of configuration management and design control processes
Strong communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary project settings
