Control Engineer

LHH is seeking a Controls / PLC Engineer to support and improve automated manufacturing operations in a high-volume production environment. Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade PLCs, HMIs (PanelView), robotics, and servo drive control systems
Perform program updates, system backups, and version control for all automation platforms
Provide hands-on PLC programming and diagnostics support across all areas of manufacturing operations
Recommend and implement improvements to equipment performance, production efficiency, and product quality
Prepare, update, and maintain technical documentation related to PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and servo drives
Create and revise electrical schematics and drawings using AutoCAD
Ensure controls documentation and procedures align with internal standards and customer requirements
Support PLC, electronics, and controls training initiatives; deliver technical training as required
Lead by example in maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices, and Job Safety Practices
Mentor and support team members to ensure effective transfer of technical knowledge
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing processes and automation
Support planning and implementation of machinery modifications, upgrades, and new equipment launches
Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and support operational goals
Fulfill all Health, Safety, and Environmental responsibilities in accordance with HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001
Ensure Quality Management System compliance with IATF 16949 and internal process maps
Adhere to all company policies and responsibilities outlined in the Employee Handbook

Required

Hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics (Allen-Bradley and Siemens)
Strong electronics and electrical troubleshooting capabilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Advanced AutoCAD experience required
Demonstrated ability to drive results and support continuous improvement initiatives
Self-motivated, proactive learner with a strong commitment to professional development
Proven ability to collaborate effectively and support the development of others

Preferred

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred; equivalent technical experience will be considered
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive manufacturing strongly preferred
SolidWorks experience is a plus
