Dykema’s Intellectual Property Group is seeking an IP Litigation Associate with 3–4 years of experience. The role focuses on patent and other intellectual property litigation in federal court, involving all phases of litigation, from pleadings through trial preparation.

Responsibilities

Managing all phases of litigation, from pleadings through dispositive motions and trial preparation
Handling intellectual property litigation, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, managing discovery, and working with experts
Advising clients on clearance, validity, infringement, and enforcement of patent and other intellectual property rights

Required

3–4 years of experience in IP litigation
At least two years of law firm experience handling intellectual property litigation
Experience with legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs
Experience managing discovery and working with experts
Demonstrated excellent written and oral advocacy skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines
Admission to the State Bar or the ability to immediately waive in

Preferred

Experience litigating matters in federal court
Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Familiarity with patent prosecution, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications
Experience with a variety of technical areas, including mechanical, electromechanical, software, and/or electrical inventions
