Vice President of Business Development
Flatbay Capital is seeking a highly outgoing, relationship-driven Vice President of Business Development to help expand their private credit platform by building strong referral partnerships with business bankers and commercial lenders. This role focuses on networking and relationship-building, representing the firm to banks and financial professionals as a reliable capital partner for declined or out-of-box loans.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain a strong referral network of business bankers, commercial lenders, and financial professionals
Develop long-term relationships with banks and lending institutions as their preferred private credit partner
Source declined or non-bankable commercial and owner-occupied real estate loan opportunities
Educate referral partners on our lending criteria, process, and execution capabilities
Represent the firm at networking events, industry functions, and professional gatherings
Track and manage referral relationships using CRM and reporting tools
Collaborate with internal credit and underwriting teams to help shepherd deals from referral to close
Qualification
Required
No prior private credit or finance experience required — we will train the right person
Open to recent college graduates who are hungry, motivated, and highly social
Strong communication skills — in person, over the phone, and in writing
Comfortable working independently with minimal day-to-day supervision
Naturally outgoing, confident, and highly likeable — you enjoy meeting new people and building professional relationships
Competitive, self-motivated, and driven by performance-based income
Comfortable starting conversations, following up, and staying top-of-mind with referral partners
Organized enough to manage a growing network of banking and lending relationships
Resilient, persistent, and energized by long-term relationship-building rather than quick wins
Preferred
Outside sales experience in a relationship-driven industry (financial services, medical sales, industrial sales, logistics, real estate, or B2B services)
Strong communication skills
