Responsibilities
Assists in the planning, scheduling and conducting lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for the residents
Assists in planning appropriate programs for holidays and special events
Assists in recruiting and developing additional resources for services to the residents
Assists in advising and motivating residents regarding appropriate individual and group activities based on resident interests and opportunities for growth
Assists in preparing and organizing a calendar of events submitted to the Memory Care Director for final approval. Assists in posting and distributing the calendar
Assists in developing and printing the community newsletter
Assists with purchases and maintaining equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines
Assists in organizing and supervising a volunteer staff
Assists in addressing resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest
Participates in community in-services
Demonstrates competence in Federal, State and Local regulations, assisted living as applicable; ensures compliance
Assists in developing, facilitating and analyzing resident surveys to determine ongoing activities are in place that meet the resident interests
Assists in planning, coordinating and facilitating appropriate mixed group activities
Assists in developing and facilitating daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms and other resident and team member communication centers
Assists in maintaining a robust public relations program in support of the activities programming and community relations
Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; knows where their residents are and physically checks on each assigned resident as assigned
Observes, reports and documents symptoms and conditions of residents for changes in condition such as skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary and participation in activities
Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly
Notifies Memory Care Director and/or Director of Nursing if a resident has increased care needs
Assists with continence management and disposes of all continence products properly to ensure sanitation of resident suite and community restrooms
Serves and collects food plates for Starlight program and assists as needed; reports refusal of meals or loss of appetite
Maintains cleanliness of resident’s room and work areas
Practices good standard care precautions of cleanliness, hygiene and health
Helps residents maintain independence, promotes dignity and physical safety of each resident
Actively participates/leads and assists residents with activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating) as instructed
Engages residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities
Greets and assists all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors and team members
Does resident laundry as assigned and needed
Assists with other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma/GED
Must be 18 years of age
Preferred
Previous experience working with seniors preferred
Previous experience or training on dementia care preferred
Certified Nurse's Aid certification preferred
