Senior Instructional Designer
TrainingPros is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to modernize training and apprenticeship programs in a precision manufacturing environment. The role involves designing training curricula, translating existing SOPs into learning pathways, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
Design end-to-end training curriculum supporting skilled trades and apprenticeship programs
Translate SOPs into applied learning journeys (learn ? practice ? apply ? certify)
Define and document skill-based progression frameworks tied to demonstrated capability
Create instructor guides, learner materials, assessments, and certification criteria
Partner closely with shop-floor supervisors, SMEs, and leadership to ensure accuracy and adoption
Assess and evolve existing apprenticeship models and feeder pipelines
Ensure training programs support regulatory, audit, and quality requirements
Spend meaningful time onsite in Cincinnati during discovery and early implementation phases
Qualification
Required
10+ years in learning strategy, instructional design, or workforce development
Experience designing applied training in manufacturing, industrial, or skilled trades environments
Strong background translating SOPs into structured training and certification programs
Experience working in regulated environments (defense, aerospace, nuclear, heavy manufacturing, etc.)
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building programs from early-stage or decentralized environments
Willingness and ability to travel onsite as needed
Preferred
Exposure to machining, CNC/CAM, fabrication, welding, or complex assembly operations highly preferred
