Responsibilities
Spend dedicated boots-on-the-ground time on jobsites and with other construction-specific support functions (active partnership with Preconstruction, VDC/BIM, Quality, Safety, Scheduling, and Project Accounting/ERP) to observe workflows, uncover friction points, and validate pain statements
Remain current with available construction technology offerings and a pulse on future offerings
Initiate and lead the Build vs. Buy evaluation using the 4-gate funnel: Problem definition (field-validated pain, potential solutions), Market scan (off-the-shelf viability vs. build), Data feasibility (clean, useful data), Economics (cost vs. anticipated benefit)
Manage the pilot for new construction tools; design and execute small-scale pilots; define success criteria and go/no-go decisions
Partner with VP of ConTech to socialize change, leveraging branding and communication assets to build buy-in across the Construction Tech Steering Committee, Tellepsen leadership, and field teams
Coordinate with the Tech Stack Manager to ensure successful handoff from pilot to production, including the initial SOP, training integration, and data architecture alignment
Define and track KPIs for pilot success, adoption, and business impact; report outcomes to leadership
Maintain a technology innovation portfolio showing all potential and active projects, their stage (idea, pilot, scale), and projected impact; publish monthly status reports to the VP of ConTech
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in construction innovation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
Minimum 5+ years experience in construction operations, technology evaluation, or process improvement
Demonstrated success in technology scouting, pilot execution, and stakeholder engagement within construction or similar industries
Strong understanding of construction workflows and pain points across preconstruction, project management, and field execution
Familiarity with current construction technology platforms (Procore, Bridgit Bench, P6) and emerging applications
Skilled in business case development, ROI analysis, and pilot economics
Excellent communication and change management skills; ability to influence leadership and field teams
Comfortable with data-driven decision-making and partnering with technical roles for integration and analytics
Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and maintain visibility through structured reporting
Demonstrated leadership ability. Able to manage, motivate, communicate, and persuade others
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Timely, transparent, direct, and specific
Must be bright, have a very strong work ethic, persistent and committed
Love for construction, specifically project management
Humility is expected within the Tellepsen Culture
