Responsibilities
Assign and edit oncology-focused articles, primarily news, for a clinically sophisticated audience
Pitch, write, and develop feature stories with fresh, creative angles in collaboration with the Executive Editor
Assign clearly defined story ideas to freelancers and manage editorial workflows
Edit content for accuracy, balance, timeliness, and relevance
Write and edit in-depth or investigative oncology stories as needed
Partner with marketing teams to develop newsletters and promotional content
Coordinate with operations teams to ensure content is published on schedule
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in English, Biology, Journalism, or a related field
5+ years of experience in health or medical content editing and writing
Strong, hands-on knowledge of the oncology field
Proven experience assigning and managing freelance contributors
Ability to translate medical and academic language into clear, accessible content
Highly reliable, deadline-driven, and able to take direction while working independently
Detail-oriented with strong proofreading and editorial judgment
Flexible, creative, and adaptable in a competitive, fast-growing media environment
