Building Engineer (Temp, Part-Time)

The Building Engineer will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, and respond to tenant service requests while ensuring safety and compliance with established practices.

Responsibilities
Wear appropriate personal protective safety equipment and follows established safety practices and procedures according to OSHA standards
Maintain and repair the building’s furnishings, structure finish and fixtures; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and associated controls. Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment and its related systems
Make mechanical alterations and repairs to the HVAC equipment and controls, as well as all requests for service adjustments
Install and repair plumbing fixtures, pipes, pumps and drain cleaning
Install and repair electrical systems, equipment, devices, and circuits
Operation of building MEP system and perform preventive maintenance to mechanical equipment
Attend to tenant and building service request including picture hanging, light bulb replacement and other regular requests
Participates in engineering meetings as required. Participates in customer visits if needed
Strong people skills in terms of cooperation, teamwork, self-motivation, self-learning and respect for others
Other trades work as assigned by your manager
Qualification
Required
Basic knowledge of all building systems which include electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building automation controls
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
Maintains safe and clean work environment
Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC drawings
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
Overtime will be required for certain situations
Shift changes may be necessary to meet the needs of the client
Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary
Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices
Experience performing routine maintenance
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Ability to perform weekend duty responsibilities and respond to the building under certain circumstances
Professional presentation and attitude
Willingness to be flexible in: assignments, priorities, shifts/depending on projects and production needs and weekend coverage
