Director of Operations
Critical Path Advisors is a fast-paced, high-volume legal recruiting firm based in Los Angeles. They are seeking a Director of Operations who will manage day-to-day operations while supporting both business and personal operations for a high-net-worth founder.
Responsibilities
Own and oversee all operational functions of the firm, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day execution
Act as the internal hub across recruiting, legal, finance, HR, and administrative functions
Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks and implement practical solutions quickly
Create structure where needed while respecting the fast‑moving nature of the business
Evaluate and improve workflows across recruiting, candidate management, client intake, and placements
Implement and manage operational systems (ATS, CRM, reporting tools, billing, time tracking, etc.)
Develop SOPs, playbooks, and clear processes that support scale without slowing the team down
Ensure consistency, accuracy, and follow‑through across all operational activities
Manage and support internal staff, recruiters, and operations team members
Set clear expectations, priorities, and accountability
Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
Serve as a steady presence in a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment
Oversee billing, invoicing, collections, and coordination with finance and accounting partners
Track operational metrics, KPIs, and reporting for leadership
Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning
Ensure contracts, vendor relationships, and internal controls are managed effectively
Ensure a high-touch, professional experience for both clients and candidates
Support senior leadership in managing key client relationships as needed
Troubleshoot issues quickly and discreetly
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Oversee and partner closely with the Executive Assistant to manage both business and personal operations for a high-net-worth founder
Support a dual-residency lifestyle (California and New York), ensuring seamless coordination across locations
Help manage household operations, including vendors, service providers, schedules, travel logistics, and personal projects
Act as a central point of coordination to ensure personal matters are handled with the same rigor, responsiveness, and follow-through as business operations
Serve as a trusted operational extension of the founder, anticipating needs, prioritizing effectively, and resolving issues proactively
Maintain absolute discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment across all personal and professional matters
Qualification
Required
Proven experience thriving in a very fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Confidence and maturity to work effectively with a strong, hands-on founder
Ability to navigate different personalities while maintaining professionalism and forward momentum
Comfort making decisions, setting boundaries, and managing up when needed
Proven experience in operations leadership, ideally within legal, recruiting, professional services, or a similar fast-paced environment
Ability to jump in immediately and handle ambiguity without hesitation
Strong operational judgment with a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset
Exceptional organization, follow-through, and prioritization skills
Comfortable managing multiple moving parts, deadlines, and personalities
Strong communication skills with the ability to interface confidently with senior leaders, attorneys, clients, and candidates
High level of discretion, integrity, and accountability
Preferred
Experience in legal recruiting, legal services, staffing, or executive search
Familiarity with ATS and CRM platforms
Experience working in high-volume, high-expectation environments
Prior experience building or stabilizing operations during growth
