Responsibilities
Design and build core product features and backend infrastructure to support a rapidly growing customer base
Influence early architectural decisions, ensuring systems are scalable, flexible, and resilient as the platform evolves
Collaborate closely with product and design partners to plan and implement core functionality
Establish strong technical foundations that enable future product development and adaptability
Contribute to growing the engineering team by setting a high bar for technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration
Help shape engineering practices, development workflows, and DevOps approaches in an early-stage environment
Qualification
Required
5 - 15 years of professional backend engineering experience, with the ability to operate at a senior level from day one (staff-level experience a plus)
Previous experience at a startup
CS degree from a top CS school
Proficiency in Go, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript
Proven experience designing and building robust, scalable backend systems in fast-paced environments
Strong ownership mindset with a track record of taking end-to-end responsibility for solving customer problems
High standards for code quality, system design, and maintainability; pride in craft is essential
Collaborative, inclusive approach with experience working cross-functionally to deliver customer impact
Preferred
Bonus: experience leading teams on large web applications; strong Go experience; interest or background in DevOps and infrastructure; familiarity with Kubernetes and/or Google Cloud Platform
