Mechanical Engineer
AvtechTyee is a leader in the design, development, and manufacture of electronic systems and structural parts for the aerospace industry. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with project management experience to support both R&D and production, focusing on mechanical architecture and project leadership in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities
You will own the mechanical architecture, enclosure design, thermal/structural validation, and qualification of flight electronics through the entire product development life cycle
You'll lead projects and cross functional teams, including but not limited to: planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk mitigation
As a SME, you will mentor junior engineers and those outside the engineering organization in the effective execution of complex projects in a highly regulated industry
Establish technical ownership & deliver high quality engineering outputs
Integrate into cross-functional teams and demonstrate systems thinking
Consistently deliver continuous improvements and demonstrate initiative
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar field
8+ years of experience in a design engineering capacity. 6+ years with a relevant Master's Degree
2+ years of programmatic leadership experience
Demonstrated ownership of electronics packaging for aerospace/defense (enclosures, PCB integration, stack-ups, fasteners, thermal/structural tradeoffs)
Demonstrated success in leading complex technical projects in a highly regulated industry
Proficiency with 3D CAD, ASME &14.5 documentation standards and tolerancing, and use of PLM for configuration control
Experience with DO-160 (and/or equivalent Military Standards) including test plans/procedures, hands-on test support, problem reporting, and report authorship
Comfort with and practical knowledge of operating in an AS9100 quality system
Integration of Configuration Control through the use of PLM systems for technical documentation, BOMs, change orders, CCB, and other processes
Experience as the customer interface; comfortable presenting and providing status updates
Solidworks (desired) or similar and associate PDM
Knowledge and experience in a professional business environment
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Outstanding interpersonal relationship skills
Willingness to be hands-on, on the floor, interacting with the Production team
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
Strong focus and attention to detail
Time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task in a complex business environment
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
Strong focus on customer service
Ability to quickly master new business knowledge and technical skills
Must be authorized to work in the U.S
Preferred
Experience with EMI/EMC design practices for electronics enclosures
