Responsibilities

Resolving customer inquiries and complaints via phone, email, and written service requests
Providing virtual and in-person assistance with federal/state and local benefits programs
Serving as a higher-level contact to resolve problematic issues and to facilitate changes
Exercising knowledge of subject matter and community resources for food, clothing, shelter, and appropriate resources
Operating various federal/state/local database systems to retrieve and upload sensitive information
Maintaining statistical data for program performance and analysis
Compiling reports on overall customer satisfaction
Adhering to established customer service guidelines and procedures to exercise sound judgement, courtesy, and timely responses
Interviewing and determining eligibility for all programs administered by FIA

Required

Two (2) years of experience providing delivery of social, health, and/or public assistance services, one year of which involved delivery of services specific to those provided in the assigned position
Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Three (3) years of experience providing delivery of social, health and/or public assistance services
Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
May be required to have bi-lingual ability (English and a foreign language), depending on position assignment

Preferred

Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local benefit programs
Knowledge of database systems to determine program eligibility
Demonstrated experience working with low-income households
Demonstrated customer service experience

Benefits

Our generous leave package starts with non-MLS permanent and term employees earning 15 days of sick leave and 15 days of annual leave in their first year, as well as up to three additional personal days each calendar year.
