Chief Information and Technology Officer

Austal USA is seeking a Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO) to provide executive technical and strategic leadership for their Digital and Information Technology function. The CITO will define and deliver the enterprise technology and information strategy while leading the IT department to ensure secure and scalable technology capabilities that align with business objectives.

Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation, and governance of enterprise IT, information management, cybersecurity, and digital transformation policies
Provide strategic oversight of departmental human, financial, and technological resources
Define and maintain enterprise architecture aligned with business strategy and operational needs
Ensure the availability, resilience, and scalability of infrastructure, networks, cloud platforms, and data centers
Establish and oversee information security, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and business continuity programs
Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational data and systems
Lead technology and information risk management in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
Oversee vendor strategy, sourcing, and service level agreements
Oversee the design, implementation, integration, and lifecycle management of enterprise applications, ERP/COTS solutions, and digital platforms
Establish and govern data management, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities
Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and cost-effective technology solutions
Partner with all functions to optimize business processes through technology
Ensure all applications and data platforms meet security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
Monitor emerging technologies and industry best practices
Lead planning and execution of capital and operational technology initiatives
Oversee application support, infrastructure operations, and service delivery
Develop and manage the department’s budget
Oversee the department’s performance management framework
Ensure preparation of work plans, budgets, and reports
Provide regular updates to senior leadership
Build and retain a high-performing technology team
Foster a culture of accountability and innovation
Champion the enterprise technology vision

Required

Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise IT, systems engineering, digital transformation, or information systems modernization
Proven experience with ERP/COTS implementations, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, data platforms, and enterprise IT operations
Demonstrated experience in enterprise-scale budgetary, financial, and vendor management
Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proven record of leading change management and transformation initiatives
Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively at the executive level and across diverse stakeholders, bridging business strategy and technology execution
Deep understanding of software development, databases, systems integration, enterprise architecture, and IT governance
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, disaster recovery, business continuity, and data privacy regulations
Understanding of data management, analytics, visualization, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI, blockchain)
Proven leadership experience managing large, multidisciplinary IT and digital teams and initiatives
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to varied audiences
High level of discretion and integrity in handling sensitive company information
Strong knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, preferably within naval shipbuilding or sustainment environments, and the ability to navigate both customer and regulatory dimensions of DoD business operations
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities
