Responsibilities

Manage, operate, and support Couchbase clusters in production environments
Design and maintain Couchbase architecture, including clustering, replication, and XDCR
Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using cbbackupmgr and related tools
Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and N1QL query optimization
Monitor Couchbase environments and troubleshoot issues using logs, metrics, and alerts
Plan and execute Couchbase upgrades, patching, and version migrations
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and multi-region deployments
Implement security best practices, including encryption, auditing, and role-based access control (RBAC)
Automate database operations using tools such as Ansible , shell scripts, or similar frameworks
Collaborate with application, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support business needs
Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and on-call support rotations when required

Required

5+ years of hands-on experience managing Couchbase in production
Strong understanding of Couchbase internals, architecture, and distributed systems
Expertise in backup/restore, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
Experience managing multi-node and multi-region Couchbase clusters
Strong Linux/Unix administration skills with system-level performance tuning experience
Solid understanding of database security and compliance requirements
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment

Preferred

Experience with Kubernetes and Couchbase Autonomous Operator
Hands-on experience deploying Couchbase on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools for database automation
Knowledge of JSON data modeling and access patterns
Exposure to other NoSQL and relational databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, etc.)
Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks
Any cloud or database-related certifications (AWS, Azure, Google) are a strong plus
