Responsibilities

Shall be assigned to one or more of the following positions:
Camp Lead Counselor
Responsible for maintaining financial records, camper arrival packets, and cash handling
Scheduling and supervising your staff during work hours
Keep personnel documentation/records current; ensure all timecards are completed, turn in signed timecards
Maintain sign-out sheets for leaving camp and oversee key sign out
Continue recruitment for all staff and volunteers
Write receipts; maintain proper cash handling procedures and safe documentation
Other duties as assigned
Primary camper interface
Greet all incoming campers, complete customer check in (wristbands), go through packet (rules and regulations) with customers, complete meal count, give out information (maps, hikes, etc.), answer phone and do announcements
Request maintenance repairs and custodial requests as they arrive to meet the needs of our campers
Direct food service worker in serving and cleanup of food service area and kitchen area
Assist in preparation and cooking 700 plus meals per day and other duties as assigned
Responsible for planning menu, ordering supplies, scheduling and supervising assistant cooks and food service workers duties
Maintaining records for the kitchen and dining hall
Maintain a healthy, safe and clean cooking/working environment
Responsible for preparing 700 plus meals per day and other duties as assigned
Responsible for keeping lavatories/showers clean, safe and ready for use
Assist maintenance team as needed
Inventory, order and stock supplies
Do minor plumbing repairs, change lights, clean/change water filters and pressure wash
Deep clean bathrooms once a day
Maintain all restrooms and camp area to a safe and healthy standard
Supervise Maintenance and Custodial Staff, Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of camp, water treatment plant, monitor water level /usage, and emergency repairs
Write work orders
Collect and turn in timecards
Ensure all City vehicles are safe, clean and have adequate gas for the week
Responsible for planning menu, ordering supplies, scheduling and supervising cooks, assistant cooks and food service workers
Collect and turn in staff timecards, maintaining records for the kitchen and dining hall
Responsible for set up, serving and cleanup of food service area, dining hall and kitchen areas
The "Face of Camp," with dual roles of meeting and greeting campers upon arrival to camp and providing important and interesting information about camp and nearby destinations
Supervise Lifeguard Staff, lifeguard designated area, enforce pool rules, address safety concerns, conduct swim test, attend all trainings, administer first aide, report to supervisor any safety concerns and other duties as assigned
Direct supervision of Recreation staff, Aquatic activities, daily recreational activities, crafts, sports, nature studies, drama and Special Events
Responsible for implementing crafts, sports, nature studies, drama and other daily recreational activities
Responsible for providing childcare and other duties as assigned
Under direction, supervise store staff, responsible for ordering, stocking, inventory control and cash handling
Schedule and supervise staff during work hours
Responsible for helping campers, ringing sales on a cash register, and stocking shelves
Under direction, supervise recreation staff working sitewide special entertainment events
Responsible for scheduling and new event creation

Required

At least six (6) months of prior experience
A valid CA Driver's License and proof of insurance is required
Proof of current CPR and First Aid Certification
Proof of current Open Water Lifeguard Red Cross Certification
Minimum age of 18 prior to appointment
Undergo a required background check, including a criminal history records check, and fingerprinting process
Provide a medical verification of negative tuberculosis test result

Preferred

Experience in large cafeteria, restaurant or accredited cooking school
A valid Food Handlers Certificate
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Retail experience is a must
Knowledge of cash registers, credit card process, daily financial reports, scheduling, and supervising staff
Experience in childcare
At least six (6) months leading and supervising diversified recreation programs for all age groups in a recreational or camp setting
At least six (6) months of prior pool experience and/or open water guard experience

Benefits

Housing is available at camp from June 7 - August 18, 2026.
Meals are included.
Part-time positions(less than 40 hours per week) are required to participate in the City’s PTC 457 Deferred Compensation Plan per Federal regulations.
Employees are required to contribute 3.75% of gross earning and the City contributes a matching amount of 3.75%.
The funds contributed by the City are 100% vested upon initial deferral and will be held in a stability of principal investment.
Part-time employees may elect to contribute additional retirement savings through the City’s Voluntary 457 Deferred Compensation Plan.
