Responsibilities

Personally cultivate and solicit a portfolio of approximately 100 high-capacity prospects
Formulate sophisticated "moves management" strategies that result in successful stewardship of donors at the $1M+ level
Develop a deep understanding of the funding needs of HMC’s academic departments and business units, translating complex institutional priorities into compelling cases for support
Act as a senior resource for the President and Cabinet, preparing them for high-level prospect meetings and ensuring their engagement in the fundraising process is both productive and rewarding
Ensure the College’s major and principal giving programs are positioned for the quiet phase of the upcoming comprehensive campaign
Lead the Advancement Campus Liaison (ACL) Program, fostering formalized partnerships between the Office of College Advancement and the HMC academic departments
Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Marketing to ensure that all development messaging is consistent with the HMC brand and campaign goals
Identify and engage prominent alumni and friends to serve in leadership and advisory capacities, ensuring a diverse and capable pipeline for future volunteer boards
Lead by example, modeling the way for the fundraising team through personal excellence in solicitation and stewardship
Actively encourage increased participation and outreach across the team, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit that seeks out new markets and untapped philanthropic potential
Manage and mentor five philanthropic advisors, setting clear expectations and establishing metrics for success that prioritize both quantitative results and qualitative growth
Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, advocating for the staff's professional development while ensuring a data-driven approach to prospect engagement
Support OCA's objective to cultivate and sustain a robust culture of philanthropy that reflects belief and confidence in HMC’s leadership and mission
Reinforce that every gift supports people and programs across campus, inspiring shared pride and a collective commitment to the College’s future
Promote a sense of hospitality, giving and generosity, ensuring that individuals understand the vital role of philanthropy in contributing to the College’s success
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key offices and partners across campus, including the President’s Office, the Dean of Faculty Office, Admission, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, Financial Affairs, Communications & Marketing, academic departments and centers, and Career Services, to coordinate and amplify engagement opportunities

Required

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible leadership in development, with documented success closing six and seven-figure gifts
