Director of Project Controls
J&H Capital LLC is seeking an experienced Director of Project Controls based in the Norfolk/Hampton area. The role involves overseeing construction project planning and scheduling, requiring strong expertise in baseline schedules and VDOT experience.

Prepare and maintain baseline, target, and recovery schedules
Progress updates and forecasts
What-if scenarios and risk analysis
Analyze schedule impacts, delays, and acceleration measures
Prepare high-quality planning reports and dashboards
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams
Lead planning meetings and schedule reviews
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
8–15+ years of experience in construction project planning and scheduling
Primavera P6 Professional Certification
VDOT experience
Proven experience on large-scale building or infrastructure projects
Strong background in baseline schedules, updates, and recovery schedules
Advanced proficiency in scheduling software: Primavera P6 (essential)
Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM)
Strong knowledge of delay analysis techniques (EOT, claims support)
Strong knowledge of resource loading and cost integration
Ability to develop Level 4–5 schedules
Prepare and maintain baseline, target, and recovery schedules
Prepare and maintain progress updates and forecasts
Analyze schedule impacts, delays, and acceleration measures
Solid understanding of construction contracts (FIDIC, NEC, etc.)
Experience supporting Extension of Time (EOT) claims
Ability to prepare delay analysis reports (e.g., impacted as-planned, time impact analysis)
Prepare high-quality planning reports and dashboards
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams
Lead planning meetings and schedule reviews
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and presentation abilities
Leadership and mentoring of junior planners
Preferred
Master's degree is an advantage for large or complex projects
MS Project (often required)
PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional – AACE)
PMP (Project Management Professional) – advantage
Membership in professional bodies (AACE, PMI, CIOB)
